E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen - Black| Swatch and Review

I'm always on the lookout for eyeliner pens so when I saw E.L.F's waterproof liner at Target for $1.00, I decided to try it out.

e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen: Get no smudge with no-budge eyeliner, which creates a fabulous and fresh look of precision that lasts for hours. The smooth pen applicator easily glides on color for very fine to bold lines for effortless beauty.

When I got home and swatched it, I was pretty impressed.  The color was bold, it applied smoothly, and after a couple of seconds, it wouldn't budge.  The next morning, I used this liner in my daily routine. Eight hours into the day I did a quick check and noticed that the liner had not smudged nor faded one bit. Four hours later I did another check and was amazed that the liner still looked as if it had just been applied.  I got a good 12 hours of wear before it was time to wash it off.  I couldn't believe how great this product was.

The next day I reached for my new favorite liner and began applying it.  When it came time to apply it to the second eye, the felt tip was completely dry.  Per the instructions on the packaging, I had stored the product upright with the felt tip down overnight, but for some reason, no product was being absorbed by the felt tip.  The next morning I attempted to apply the liner but once again, the felt tip had only absorbed enough product to line one eye.

Cut to the Chase
I'm so disappointed by this liner.  The product itself is amazing but the packaging needs some work.  If they could figure out how to make sure the product is absorbed by the felt tip more than once, this would be one of the best liners out on the market.

So for now, I would not recommend this liner.  Although it's only $1.00, it can get super expensive being that it's basically a one time use liner.

Have you tried their other liquid liner?

I've heard lots of mixed reviews on this. It's too bad that the packaging ruins what could be a good product.

@VintageMakeup, no, I haven't tried their other liquid liner yet. The only elf waterproof liner I saw at Target was this felt tip one.

@Natasha, I've also read mixed reviews. I may try purchasing one more just to see if maybe the first one was just faulty.

Aww that's lame! I'm on the lookout for a new liner too, so it's unfortunate that the packaging is so broken on this one lol!
Great review!

If the tip is dry, I just run some warm water and dip the tip quickly into the water. After that when you swatch it, it'll be runnier and much more pigmented. ☺
