NOTD: Easter Bunny Nails

It's almost Easter so here's my final Easter inspired manicure:

I went with a little Easter Bunny peaking out of a cracked egg shell on my accent nail and pastel Easter egg designs for the rest of the nails.

Colors used:

  • Ulta: Snow White
  • Sally Hansen: Breezy Blue & Mint Sorbet
  • Orly: Melodious Utopia
  • Covergirl: Pink-finity
  • Sephora by OPI: It's Hippo to Be Square
I hope you all have a safe Easter!

NOTW: Spring Floral Print w/ Polka Dots

This week I continue with the spring theme.  This time I went with a quilted polka dot mani and rose print accent. :)

The lavender quilted pattern was hard to capture on camera but it's there along with the polka dots.  I find that a lot of pastels start off sheer so I began with a white base on all of the nails so that I would only have to use one coat of the pastels.

Colors Used:

  • Ulta: Snow White
  • MAC: Little Girl Type
  • Sally Hansen: Breezy Blue
  • OPI: Hey Baby (blended with white to create a pastel pink)
  • China Glaze: Tree Hugger (blended with different amounts of white to create a various green pastels)

NOTW: Spring Flowers

Spring is finally here so bring on the pastels and flower manicures!

I went through my stash of untrieds and thought Liquid Glam's Sorbet would be perfect for a spring mani.  Sorbet is a milky white base packed with small hexagon shaped pink and green glitter and tiny teal glitter.  This polish goes on real smooth and I had no issues with getting plenty of glitter with a single coat.

For this manicure I used one coat of Sorbet over a white base, Ulta's Snow White.  For the ring finger, I didn't want to go through my box of unorganized polishes to find pastels so instead I decided to blend different colors with white to make them pastels.  I used a thin brush for the grass and a dotting tool for the flowers themselves.

Colors Used:

  • Liquid Glam: Sorbet
  • Ulta: Snow White
  • China Glaze: Running Circles
  • OPI:  Hey Baby
  • Sally Hansen: New Wave Blue
  • Milani: Green Sketch
  • L.A. Colors: Yellow and Bright Green

NOTD: St. Patrick's Day Pot o' Gold

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I was planning to do a green and gold shamrock design but decided against it being that those are the same colors I used on the last post.  Instead I decided to go a more colorful route and paint a pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow. :)

I had purchased various green polishes on clearance at my last visit to Ulta and Zoya's Chita was one of them. I didn't realize it was part of the PixieDust line until I used it and finally glanced at the label.  Chita is a forest green matte textured polish with gold sparkle. One coat is all that is needed to get full coverage.

For my Pot o' Gold design I used the following:

  • Sally Hansen: Breezy Blue (background/sky)
  • Orly: Liquid Vinyl (pot)
  • OPI: Liquid Sand Honey Ryder (gold)
  • China Glaze: Blonde Bombshell (gold), Running in Circles (grass & rainbow), Blue Year's Eve (rainbow)
  • Sonia Kashuk: Tango Mango (rainbow)
  • Milani: Green Sketch (grass)
  • Jordana: Artsy Purple (rainbow)
  • L.A. Colors: Yellow (rainbow), Red Glitter (rainbow)

Have a fun and safe St. Paddy's Day!

NOTW: St. Patrick's Day Mani - Green & Gold

Well technically it's a teal and gold mani but to me it looks more green.  I was going to add a little shamrock on the ring finger but decided to save that for next weeks mani.

Colors used:
  • China Glaze: Teal the Tide Turns - Sea Goddess Collection
  • OPI: Love.Angel.Music.Baby - Gwen Stefani Collection
I used two coats of Love.Angel.Music.Baby on my ring finger.  On the others I used two coats of Teal the Tide Turns and one coat of Love.Angel.Music.Baby dabbed using saran wrap.

Deal Alert: Gwen Stefani for OPI - Clearance

FYI.. for those of you who been putting off purchasing the Gwen Stefani for OPI collection, Sally Beauty Supply has the entire collection on clearance online and in stores for $4.50 each.  Apparently the collection did not sell as anticipated and they need to make room for OPI's next collection.

NOTW: Pink & White Sand

I usually don't like textured nail polish but I did take a liking to OPI's Liquid Sand when the Bond Girl collection came out last year. Being that Valentine's is coming up I brought out two polishes from the collection, pink and white.

Here you see two coats of OPI Solitaire and two coats of OPI Pussy Galore on the accent nail.  I added some polka dots with the alternating color on the parts of the nails but they're barely visible.  I wasn't expecting the nail polish to last much on my nails being that there was no protective top coat but I was pleasantly surprised when on day 5, all I really had was minimal wear on the tips.  I decided to add a top coat for the last couple of days wear.

And here it is, with a coat of Gelous. I like Liquid Sand on its own but I like it even more with a top coat.  Neither of these pictures really give these polishes any justice but the top coat really brings out the sparkle.

I'm going to have to start bringing out my other Liquid Sand polishes and start swatching them. :)

NOTW: Mickey Mouse Pumpkin Halloween Mani w/ Magical Halloween

Instagram hasn't helped my nail polish addiction at all.  In fact, Instagram is what introduced me to the indie polish world.  It seems like everyday I see a new indie brand and am forced to make a purchase.  My lastest purchase is from Pop Culture Cosmetics.  Pop Culture Cosmetics came out with "The Haunted Mouse Collection".  Mickey Mouse + Halloween, what could be better.

"Magical Halloween is a clear base glitter bomb filled with black, orange, purple and green glitter in many shapes and sizes along with glitter shaped like my very favorite mouse - he's so magical!"  - from Pop Culture Cosmetics, $10.00 15ml
Taaadaaaaaaaah, my first Halloween mani for the year.  I decided to stick with the Mickey Mouse theme and paint a Mickey pumpkin on my accent nail.

Colors Used:
  • China Glaze: Grape Juice, CG in the City, Sun Worshiper
  • Orly: Melodious Utopia
  • Milani: Green Sketch
  • Pop Culture Cosmetics: Magical Halloween
Don't forget to follow me on Instagram.. ButtercreamAndLipgloss :)

Sugar Venom by Pahlish || Review/Swatch

One of the most recent additions to my indie polish stash is by Pahlish.  I have seen various swatches of this brand but it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I finally purchased a couple polishes including Sugar Venom from the Coney Island Queen Collection.

Sugar Venom is described as a:
creamy neon pink with intense pink duochrome microflakes and scattered metallic berry accents. - Pahlish
This polish tends to look more like a creamy deep pink rather than a hot pink, however the rest of the description is on point.  The duocrhome glitter is hard to capture on camera but you can catch a glimpse towards the top of the bottle. The formula is smooth and you get nice even coverage after two good coats.  Pahlish is definitely a brand I look forward to purchasing from again.

You can purchase a .5oz bottle of Sugar Venom on the Pahlish Etsy Shop for $9.00.

NOTW: Sparkling Purple Stripes

For this weeks manicure I decided to go with soft purple stripes and of course had to throw in a little sparkle!

Colors Used:
  • Sephora by OPI:  It's Hippo to Be Square
  • Nail Sauce:  Cloud 9
  • China Glaze:  Fairy Dust
I started with two coats of It's Hippo to Be Square on all nails.  I added two layers of Cloud 9 on my accent nail.  I used one coat of Cloud 9 for the stripes on the rest of the nails.  Finally I topped all nails with one coat of Fairy Dust.

NOTW: 4th of July Mani

It's almost Independence Day and everyone is sporting their reds, whites and blues.  I knew what color scheme I was going for but I wasn't sure about the design.  I finally decided on simple red and blue chevron tips with a patriotic base.

For this mani I used:
  • Jindie Nails: Jindie-Pendence
  • Orly: Red Carpet
  • China Glaze: Blue Year's Eve
  • Rhinestones: eBay
I hope you all have a fun 4th of July. Stay safe!

Barbie Girl by Laquerlicious || Review/Swatch

I'm an 80's kid.. and you can't be a true 80's kid without loving neon and glitter so when Laquerlicious announced on Instagram that she was having a sale, I literally ran to check out her shop and instantly scooped up this beauty up along with a few others.

Barbie Girl: This polish is in a clear base loaded with stars, circles, rectangles, hex and square / pink and green neon, purple and green pastel, black and white matte glitter. Layer it over a loud, bold color!! It's so fun! - Laquerlicious

Here I layered two coats of Barbie Girl over two coats of OPI's Solitaire and topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite. Each coat of Barbie Girl was packed with glitter but I did have to fish for the stars.  I absolutely love  this polish and will definitely be purchasing a second bottle.

You can purchase Barbie Girl for $9.50 at .
